Stress & Anxiety

There’s a subtle difference between stress and anxiety, but they can both feel very similar in your body and day-to-day life.

Stress is usually connected to something happening around you. It might be a busy period at work, tension in a relationship, or ongoing life pressures like health concerns or burnout. When you’re stressed, you might notice irritability, fatigue, muscle tension, digestive issues, or difficulty sleeping. It can feel like your system is constantly “on”.

Anxiety, on the other hand, tends to linger even when there’s no clear reason for it. It can show up as persistent worry, overthinking, or a sense that something isn’t quite right. You might find it hard to concentrate, feel restless or tense, and struggle to properly relax or switch off.

For many people, especially those who are high-functioning on the outside, this can become exhausting. You might look like you’re coping, but internally it feels like a constant loop of worry, self-doubt, or pressure to hold everything together.

There are practical ways to support stress and anxiety—like improving sleep, gentle movement, and looking after your body. And sometimes, that’s enough. But if you’re finding that the worry keeps returning, or that your stress and anxiety are affecting your mood, relationships, or sense of self, it might be a sign that something deeper is asking for your attention.

This is where counselling can help.

In our work together, I won’t just give you tools to manage symptoms. Instead, we’ll gently explore what’s underneath the stress and anxiety—at a pace that feels safe for you. Often, these patterns are connected to earlier experiences, unmet emotional needs, or ways you’ve learned to cope and stay safe in relationships.

My approach is calm, supportive, and trauma-informed.  You don’t need to have it all figured out before you come in.

Therapy with me is a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin to reconnect with yourself—without pressure or judgement.

Over time, this work can help you feel more grounded, less overwhelmed, and more able to trust yourself.
