Fiona incorporates values of trust, safety and respect in her work with adults. Fiona's focus supports people who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, and who may feel overwhelmed with the challenges of life.
These challenges can be due to relationship issues, stress, grief and loss, managing conflict, substance dependence, managing pain, childhood trauma and family breakdown. Fiona will work with you to explore strategies that best support you and focus on your potential.
About Fiona
Fiona has over 25 years experience supporting people to find workable pathways to navigate through tough life challenges. Fiona's experience has been in areas of counselling and support, case management and advocating to support positive changes. Fiona's work has been in community health, government and non government systems, not for profit and private hospital. The focus in some of this work has been in alcohol and other drugs, mental health, trauma and complex trauma. The work Fiona offers supports wellness, well-being and resilience. Fiona has lived and worked in urban areas in Qld and Victoria, as well as regional areas of Qld (Murgon) and more recently in the Northern Territory. Living in these diverse locations have bought experience of working with many communities and cultures in celebrating diversity.

Counselling Information
When we are in stress or conflict our defense mechanisms are activated and we can feel at war with yourself and others. A safe therapeutic relationship can enable you to tap into resources that support and calm the nervous system and regulate fight/flight/freeze responses.
Fiona offers evidence based approaches to support emotional regulation and nervous system de-escalation.
Fiona offers an understanding of personal and interpersonal neurobiology that supports developing a healthy and safe relationship with self. If you are experiencing life stress, loss of sleep, pain, anxiety, depression, we can work together to build new skills in managing life. The tools used incorporate trauma-informed practice approaches using CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, movement, and stress based reduction techniques.
Fiona is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker provides ‘Focused Psychological Strategies’ (counselling) to people with mental health challenges (such as anxiety or depression) under the Better Access to Mental Health initiative. Your GP care plan allows access to a medicare rebate for your counselling. You can ask your GP to appoint Fiona Stevens on your mental health care plan.

Professional Supervision
Professional Supervision is an option for those people wanting to seek support in their professional and career development. Following a model of supervision but also inviting you to explore critical reflection to your practice and we can explore a space that is safe to develop to your potential.
FEES - 60 minute sessions
Full time employees - $90.00
Part-time or new graduates - $65.00

Cancellation Policy
In case of cancellation or postponement, please provide as much notice as possible. Cancellations within 48 hours of the appointment (not including weekends and public holidays) incur a $50 cancellation fee. In case of cancellation within 24 hours, the full fee is due (please note that Medicare will not provide a rebate for cancellation fees).
